The television series MARRIED WITH CHILDREN is one of the most successful sitcoms. During its run of 11 seasons 259 episodes were made. The first episode was broadcasted on 5 April 1987 by Fox Network in the United States and on 9 June 1988 by ITV in the United Kingdom.

The show is about the Bundy family, father Al (Ed O'Neill), mother Peggy (Katey Sagal), daughter Kelly (Christina Applegate), son Bud (David Faustino), neighbour Marcy (Amanda Bearse) and the dog Buck. They live in a Chicago suburb. As with most comedy series, all episodes were videotaped in Hollywood, but during the opening credits a few images of Chicago are seen. These differ each season but at the start of every episode, during the first notes of the opening theme - ‘Love and marriage’ by Frank Sinatra - the Buckingham Fountain is shown.

The Clarence Buckingham Memorial Fountain, the full name of the fountain, is located at 301 S. Columbus Drive in Grant Park. It was donated to the city of Chicago in 1927 by Kate S. Buckingham in memory of her brother Clarence. The structure, made from pink marble and granite, was designed by architect Edward H. Bennett while the French sculptor Marcel Loyau was responsible for the bronze figures. The design was inspired by the Latona fountain in Versailles, seen in amongst others Merveilleuse Angélique and Midnight in Paris.

Between May and October every hour a 20 minute water show occurs during which water is being shot in the air up to 150 feet. Since the opening footage was filmed, several new buildings have been added to the skyline of Chicago.
